Our work with the South Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Services

The L&S team are working alongside the South Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Service to support women, men and children who are living with or have experienced domestic abuse.

We are passionate about supporting the SoLDAS cause and creating safe housing for those fleeing situations of domestic abuse, in order to do this we have set up a space in our showroom for our team and our customers to provide donations to those in need!

Please read through the tabs below for more information about the South Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Services and what you can do to help support victims of domestic abuse.

South Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Service - SoLDAS

Also known as the Boston Women's Aid - SoLDAS has been providing specialist domestic abuse services since 1987. Their services have grown over the years, as well as providing refuge for people in situations of domestic abuse from all over the country, they aim to reach people living in rural parts of South Lincolnshire.

The dedicated and experienced practitioners at SoLDAS are passionate about making a difference to people's lives. They are a trusted voice within our communities and are committed to making best use of the local knowledge and connections to reach their aspirations.

The SoLDAS vision is to free victims from Domestic Abuse and this encompasses four key areas:

  • They look to recruit individuals who are assertive and motivated to create a highly skilled team
  • They aim for their work to be known and shared by our communities, where the commitment and positive impact is felt.
  • They want all victims of Domestic Abuse and violence to feel valued, safe, free and supported to explore and develop their potential.
  •  To be recognised for the delivery of outstanding, quality services that meet the needs of victims that have suffered or are at risk from Domestic Abuse and violence.

Services offered at SoLDAS

THE FREEDOM PROGRAMME

The freedom programme is delivered over 12 weeks and helps victims understand the effects of attiudes/beliefs on the actions of the perpetrator and the responses of the victims.

The programme aims to help victims of domestic abuse understand what has happened to them. how they and their children are affected by the abuse and how lives can improve when abuse in removed.

Through the programme they aim to allow the women, men and children to gain a greater understanding of what happened -  helping them to understand that they should not feel guilty and aloowing them to gain tools to work with their children to help recovery and move on to a life free from abuse.

REFUGE

Sometimes, the time comes when the victim(s) need to find a place of safety for themselves and their children; this is know as a refuge.

There is a network of domestic abuse refuges across England for victims and their children if they need to flee domestic abuse.

SoLDAS offers refuge for up to 15 families and can also search for appropriate refuge in an area where the victim is not known and the perpetrator has no family or contacts.

Services offered at SoLDAS

RURAL COMMUNITY HUBS

SoLDAS understand that access to services is very poor unless you have use of a car in rural areas.  Many victims are therefore further isolated; in addition, they may not be able to access online provision – the perpetrator may control telephone/internet access.

Because of this, SoLDAS have created Rural Community Hubs - a free support service where victims and their family or friends who are concerned about them can seek support and advice in Boston and across the very rural parts of Lincolnshire.

RAISING AWARENESS IN SCHOOLS

This project takes place in many of the primary and secondary schools in the Boston & South Holland area, the aim is to raise awareness about Domestic Abuse - looking at the difference between a healthy and unhealthy relationship with the pupils through a workshop.

Following on from this one-to-one sessions are offered to any pupils that have disclosed witnessing or being a victim of Domestic Abuse and would like support. The nationally recognised ‘Power Forms’ measuring tool are used so that the children can self-assess their progress whilst being supported, in addition to one-to-one and group feedback.  The work done with children and young people in refuge spans over thirty years and is allied to the successful awareness raising programme within schools.
